The Long Drink Glass small rim diameter means that carbonated beverages, such as tonic, soda water, or soft drink, stay bubbly for longer. Hence, these glasses are primarily used for serving drinks with a comparatively large amount of liquid containing carbonic acids.
This includes, in particular, typical highballs. A highball refers to beverages that consist of one spirit and one filler. Highballs can often be complemented with a squirt of lemon juice.
