In the beautiful coastal city of Anzio, about 50km’s south of Rome,these Italian wild-caught Pollastrini Piccante sardines are packed in a fiery blend of olive oil and red chilli peppers. Sardines are left whole, plump and juicy. Serve as antipasto with crisp rustic bread. Or toss through pasta or salads.
Pollastrini has produced canned sardines since 1889 when founder Salvatore Pollastrini commenced operations. All products are made using wild caught Clupea Pilchardus sardines, fished from the Mediterranean Sea. Freshly processed, the head and tail are removed and the fish is gutted (but not filleted), maintaining their shape and beautiful silver skin.
